The Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) has reaffirmed its dedication to supporting the Federal Government’s presidential priorities, particularly in fostering economic growth and creating employment opportunities. In a statement released on Monday, NIGCOMSAT’s Chief Executive Officer, Jane Egerton-Idehen, emphasised the agency’s commitment to aligning its strategic initiatives with the national objectives set by President Ahmed Tinubu.
Egerton-Idehen highlighted that achieving the goal of promoting economic growth and development demands coordinated efforts, with a significant focus on accelerating industrialization through the digital economy. She noted that NIGCOMSAT has already launched several programs and partnerships aimed at driving job creation and fostering innovation. Among these is the NIGCOMSAT Acceleration Programme, which collaborates with startups and enterprises to encourage digital entrepreneurship.
“At NIGCOMSAT, we are dedicated to supporting the Nigerian Government’s eight Presidential Priorities, with a key focus on economic growth and job creation,” said Egerton-Idehen. “To promote economic growth and development through job creation, food security, and putting an end to poverty, we must undertake multiple coordinated efforts, including the acceleration of industrialization through the digital economy. Every week, we strive to advance this vision through our strategic pillars at NIGCOMSAT, ensuring our actions and initiatives are fully aligned with these national priorities.”
Additionally, Egerton-Idehen revealed that NIGCOMSAT is actively working with rural network providers to extend digital access to underserved areas. This initiative is aimed at integrating these communities into the digital economy, thereby supporting local businesses, facilitating job creation, and contributing to poverty reduction.
“This commitment drives NIGCOMSAT’s collaboration with partners to provide digital access in underserved rural areas,” she stated. “By enabling businesses in these communities to participate in the digital economy, we help create jobs and combat poverty, furthering our mission to support Nigeria’s economic growth.”
