The Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh (not Dr. Dayo Mobereola as mentioned), has alerted the public to numerous unauthorized social media accounts impersonating him.

Through his verified X handle @MobereolaD, Dr. Jamoh clarified that these fake accounts are not affiliated with him or NIMASA.

NIMASA spokesperson Osagie Edward issued a statement emphasizing that any entity claiming to represent NIMASA or its executives is false and unauthorized.

The agency disclaims responsibility for such entities’ actions, urging the public to verify claims and report suspicious incidents to info@nimasa.gov.ng or law enforcement agencies.

Dr. Jamoh disclaimed liability for losses incurred due to reliance on fake Facebook, LinkedIn, emails, and online publications.

The public is advised to only engage with NIMASA’s official social media platforms to avoid falling prey to scammers.

In the source note, the original text mentioned Dr. Dayo Mobereola as the DG, however, the current DG of NIMASA is Dr. Bashir Jamoh.
