The Mandate Movement has commended Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for reintroducing the ‘Ounjè Eko’ Sunday market, offering 25% discounts on essential food items to alleviate economic hardship.

Chairman Abdullahi Ayinde Enilolobo, through Central Working Committee member Prince Adewale Arogundade, praised Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to easing residents’ economic burdens.

The ‘Ounjè Eko’ initiative, initially launched in March, provides discounts on staples like rice, beans, and bread at 57 locations across Lagos.

Enilolobo described the reintroduction as a “lifeline” for Lagosians struggling with high living costs, demonstrating Sanwo-Olu’s understanding of residents’ challenges.

Lagos Commissioner for Information and Strategy Gbenga Omotoso confirmed Sanwo-Olu’s directive for the market’s return, communicated by Agriculture and Food Systems Commissioner Abisola Olusanya.

The Mandate Group urged residents to utilize the ‘Ounjè Eko’ Sunday market, highlighting its significant impact on household budgets.

This initiative aims to provide relief to Lagos residents amid economic challenges, underscoring Sanwo-Olu’s efforts to improve their well-being.
