Bolt, one of Nigeria’s leading ride-hailing platforms, has announced an increase in its pricing structure for riders in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), effective from Friday, August 30, 2024.

The revised fare structure includes several adjustments across key components of the Bolt car category in Abuja. The minimum fare has been raised from ₦1,300 to ₦1,495, while the start fee has been increased from ₦737 to ₦884. Additionally, the cost per kilometre has been adjusted from ₦124 to ₦152, and the charge per minute is now ₦25, up from ₦21.

Bolt’s management stated that this price revision is part of a broader strategy to improve drivers’ overall earning potential. The company emphasized that the adjustment is intended to ensure that drivers can cover their operational expenses while maintaining affordability for riders.

“This is aimed at ensuring that drivers can cater to their operational expenses while remaining affordable for riders,” Bolt’s management explained.

The company also reiterated its commitment to being the most competitive ride-hailing platform for drivers in Nigeria, ensuring that they receive fair compensation for their time and effort.

This price hike follows repeated requests from Bolt drivers for the company to review its pricing due to the increased cost of living.
