The Bauchi State Agricultural Development Programme (BSADP) has formed a partnership with SNV, a Netherlands-based development organization, to enhance agricultural productivity and opportunities for farmers.
During an interactive session with an SNV delegation in Bauchi, BSADP Programme Manager Akilu Abdulkarim stated that SNV’s technical expertise will be leveraged to develop various sectors of the state’s agricultural economy, with a focus on empowering youth and women farmers.
According to David Stanley, SNV’s Country Representative in Nigeria, the partnership aims to reach 1.5 million smallholder farmers across Nigeria, Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, with a strong emphasis on women and youth.
BSADP was selected as a key partner due to its strategic role in farmer interventions and watershed area activities. The 10-year project seeks to reclaim 2 million hectares of land across the four countries, with 800,000 hectares targeted in Nigeria’s 19 northern states.
This collaborative effort promises to revitalize Bauchi State’s agricultural sector, promoting economic growth and improving livelihoods for local farmers.
