The Ekiti State Government, through the Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Digital Economy, has announced the commencement of the state’s first-ever Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) Boot Camp for selected secondary school students. The week-long event is scheduled to take place from September 1st to September 7th, 2024, at Government Secondary School, Ado Ekiti.

The STEAM Boot Camp will feature a variety of hands-on activities and interactive workshops aimed at engaging students in creative problem-solving and critical thinking. According to Fakuade, participants “would have the opportunity to work with industry professionals and experts in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.”
Fakuade emphasized the importance of STEAM education in preparing students for future endeavors, noting that the selected students “will have the chance to participate in various activities such as robotics workshops, coding sessions, art projects, and more.” He stated that the goal of the Boot Camp is “to inspire students to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics fields and to foster a love for learning and experimentation.”
Highlighting the government’s commitment, Fakuade said, “Ekiti State Government under Governor Biodun Oyebanji is committed to enhancing educational opportunities and providing students with the tools they need to succeed in a rapidly evolving world.” He added that Governor Oyebanji is “particularly enthusiastic about this initiative” and urged parents and school principals to support their selected students in fully participating in what he described as a “transformative experience.”
