Late Gov. Akeredolu’s Spirit Invoked at NBA Convention; Lawyers Advocate for State Policing

The spirit of late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was invoked at the recent Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) convention, as leaders gathered to promote state policing and the Amotekun security initiative.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, Ondo State Deputy Governor, led the charge, calling for the decentralization of policing in Nigeria. He emphasized the need for state police to address the unique security challenges faced by each region.

NBA President, YC Maikyau, echoed this sentiment, stressing that state policing is essential for effective security governance. He praised the Amotekun initiative as a model for community-based policing.

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, and legal expert, Kayode Ajulo, also spoke in support of state policing and Amotekun. They argued that these initiatives are crucial for addressing the security deficits in Nigeria.
