Former Nigerian Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has voiced his strong criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza, describing the ongoing conflict as “genocide” against the Palestinian people. In a recent interview with the Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation, Fani-Kayode accused Israel of committing grave atrocities against Palestinian civilians, including children and women, using advanced weaponry without accountability.
“This is not just a recent issue but a long-standing tragedy,” Fani-Kayode remarked. “What has unfolded over the past 11 months is a stark revelation of the Zionist state’s barbarity. Thousands of innocent Palestinians are being slaughtered while the so-called civilized world remains passive.”
He directed sharp criticism at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other key figures in the Israeli government, accusing them of perpetuating violence and likening them to historical tyrants. According to Fani-Kayode, Netanyahu’s administration is focused on continuing the occupation and expanding Israeli territory with little regard for human life or international condemnation.
Despite the dire circumstances, Fani-Kayode praised the resilience of the Palestinian people, highlighting their unwavering spirit in the face of prolonged adversity. He drew parallels between the Palestinian struggle and other historical movements against oppression, such as the fight against apartheid in South Africa and slavery in America.
While Fani-Kayode expressed a preference for a peaceful resolution, he acknowledged the possibility of armed conflict as a response to what he described as occupation. He advocated for a two-state solution but noted that this approach has largely been rejected by the Israeli government.
He defended the Palestinians’ right to resist oppression, comparing their struggle to those of historical figures who fought against tyranny. “Our fight for justice and freedom is not in vain. Evil may persist for a time, but eventually, it will be overcome. We must continue to speak out and support the oppressed, as history has shown that righteousness ultimately prevails,” Fani-Kayode emphasized.
Fani-Kayode called on the international community to rally more robustly in support of the Palestinians, stressing the need for global solidarity in the face of what he describes as ongoing injustice.
