The Kano State House of Assembly has called on Governor Yusuf to provide urgent assistance to victims of the recent flood disaster in the state. The assembly made the call during a plenary session on Monday, presided over by Speaker Ismail Falgore.
Member Zakariya Abdullahi, representing Gabasawa constituency, presented a motion highlighting the devastating effects of a three-day rainfall in Gabasawa local government area. The flood affected six out of 11 wards, causing significant damage to houses and farmlands, with valuables worth millions lost.
Abdullahi emphasized the need for government intervention, as many victims are seeking shelter in primary schools. Supporting the motion, member Aminu Sa’adu, representing Ungogo Constituency, shared a tragic incident where a father lost three children due to a collapsed house in Panisau area.
Sa’adu also called for the construction of an asphalt road from Bachirawa Tukwane to Jajirq villages, which has been abandoned for over 10 years. He emphasized the importance of completing the road to improve living conditions, boost business activities, and bring development to the area.
The assembly’s call for urgent assistance aims to alleviate the suffering of flood victims and support affected communities in Kano State.
