Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, has donated 15 trailer loads of fertiliser to All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in Zamfara State, marking a significant step towards increasing agricultural production. This gesture is part of a larger effort to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agricultural reform agenda, which seeks to improve food security and encourage economic growth in Nigeria.
The donation was officially handed over to the APC State Secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar, for distribution to beneficiaries throughout Zamfara State. The announcement was made in a statement issued by the party’s spokesman, Yusuf Idris, who highlighted the importance of this contribution in ensuring a successful farming season.
Tukur Danfulani, a prominent figure within the Zamfara APC, praised the Minister’s efforts, noting that the fertilizer distribution would significantly impact agricultural output in the state. Danfulani emphasized that the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s agricultural goals, which are focused on achieving a bumper harvest during the upcoming wet farming season.
“The Minister’s gesture will undoubtedly boost agricultural output, foster economic growth, and contribute to the overall development of Zamfara State,” Danfulani stated. He further explained that the fertilizer donation included allocations from the Federal Government, supplemented by additional trucks purchased personally by Matawalle. This combination of government support and personal initiative underscores the Minister’s commitment to the welfare of farmers and the success of the agricultural sector in his home state.
All 15 trailer loads of fertilizer will be distributed free of charge to identified beneficiaries, ensuring that the support reaches those who need it most. The initiative is expected to enhance the productivity of smallholder farmers, thereby contributing to food security and economic resilience in the region.
Danfulani also expressed gratitude to Dr. Matawalle, who serves as both the Minister of State for Defence and the leader of the APC in Zamfara State.
