JUST IN: Tinubu Appoints New DGs for DSS and NIA

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of new Directors-General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS).

In a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, on Monday, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed is now the Director-General of the NIA, while Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi has been named the Director-General of the DSS.

Ambassador Mohammed, who has had an extensive career in foreign service since joining the NIA in 1995, previously served in key diplomatic roles, including as head of Nigeria’s mission to Libya. He is a 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano, and has served in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House in Abuja.

Mr. Adeola Ajayi, the new DSS Director-General, has risen through the ranks, having served as the State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi, and most recently as Assistant Director-General of the DSS.

These appointments come after the resignation of the previous chiefs of the NIA and DSS. President Tinubu has tasked the newly appointed security heads to leverage their expertise to improve the effectiveness of their agencies. He also emphasized the importance of collaboration with other security agencies and aligning closely with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

The President expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General for their dedication and service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavors.
