Arne Slot celebrated a victorious start to his Premier League home campaign with Liverpool, as the Reds extended their perfect season with a win over Brentford.
On his 100th appearance for Liverpool since joining from Porto in 2022, Luis Diaz opened the scoring with a precise finish in the 13th minute. The goal was the result of a rapid counter-attack; after Ibrahima Konate cleared a Brentford corner, Mohamed Salah launched a pass to Diogo Jota, who set up Diaz for a well-taken shot.
Liverpool displayed vibrant energy throughout the match, with Mark Flekken making two notable saves to deny Andy Robertson. Brentford, missing striker Ivan Toney as the transfer deadline looms, created their own opportunities but failed to capitalize. Christian Norgaard missed a clear chance with a free header from about 10 yards out, and Nathan Collins had a header kept out by Alisson.
Liverpool secured the win when Salah scored his second goal of the season with a deft finish using his left foot.
This Liverpool team under Slot has shown plenty of promise and energy. Although there’s room for growth, they will head to Manchester United next Sunday with back-to-back victories under their belt.
