The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has reaffirmed its commitment to providing financial support to the Nigerian Army’s academic institutions, recognizing the crucial role of military education in building a robust defense mechanism. Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Sonny Echono, made this pledge during a courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa.
Echono acknowledged the military’s significant contributions to educational institutions in Nigeria, particularly in challenging environments and conflict zones. He commended the Armed Forces for their selfless services, commitment to tackling security challenges, and protection of educational institutions.
The TETFund boss highlighted the importance of research and development collaboration between the Fund and the military, emphasizing its potential to drive national aspirations. He expressed the Fund’s commitment to continuing support for Nigerian Army institutions, including the Nigerian Defence Academy and Army University.
General Musa assured that the Armed Forces will maintain their unwavering support for educational development in the country. He proposed a partnership between the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) and TETFund, citing the benefits of local arms production, foreign currency savings, and employment generation.
The Chief of Defence Staff expressed gratitude for TETFund’s support, noting its significant impact on enhancing the capacity of Nigerian Army institutions. He emphasized the importance of securing schools, stating that it is crucial for national progress.
