Governor Alhaji Abba Yusuf distributed 88 motorcycles and five functioning vehicles to frontline medical professionals in Kano State on Thursday as part of a significant effort to improve healthcare service. The initiative is part of the state government’s larger efforts to fund a variety of health programs aimed at combating severe diseases.

The distribution ceremony took place at Government House in Kano, where the governor emphasized the importance of equipping health workers with the necessary tools to enhance their efficiency and reach. Sanusi Tofa, the governor’s spokesperson, detailed the event in a statement released in Kano.

The governor presented 88 motorcycles and three 4 Wheel Drive Utility Toyota vehicles as part of the Global Fund’s support initiative. These resources are intended for Supervisors and their Assistants to ensure the effective coordination and transportation of program commodities. This support will significantly aid in the identification and treatment of Tuberculosis, Leprosy, Malaria, and HIV across the state.

Additionally, two operational vehicles were provided for the Immunization Plus Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT) initiative. This high-impact project is aimed at transforming the Primary Healthcare (PHC) system in Nigeria, focusing on improving routine immunization, skilled birth delivery, and reducing under-five mortality rates, among other critical health outcomes.

Governor Yusuf highlighted the importance of the proper utilization of these vehicles and motorcycles to achieve the desired results in enhancing healthcare services across Kano State. “It is imperative that these resources are used effectively to ensure that we meet our healthcare delivery goals and improve the overall health outcomes for our citizens,” Yusuf stated during the ceremony.
