Claiming that 27 suspected criminals, including followers of Simon Ekpa, were killed in Enugu State, the Nigeria Police Force refuted this assertion, as did the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile led by Ekpa.
According to reports, in the last two weeks, at least 27 kidnappers—including members of Ekpa—were reportedly shot and killed during shootouts with security personnel at various points throughout the state.
But in a quick reaction, Ekpa claimed in a statement released on Thursday via his official X that the 27 people the Enugu Police were said to have slain were Biafran innocents.
Ekpa emphasized that the 27 people slain were innocent Biafrans, not his loyalists.
He claimed that the administration of Enugu State was using propaganda to justify its violent assault on its populace.
“This is incorrect and deceptive; worse, it has revealed Nigeria as a failed state and a government that has failed to protect human dignity.
“Simon Ekpa has no boys in Enugu, you have killed innocent Biafrans to prove a point to Abuja” , he replied.
He further claimed that in Abia State, Nigerian police opened fire and began shooting each other, believing they were all Biafran fighters.
