To combat banditry in the Tureta Local Government Area and surrounding communities, the Sokoto State Government has approved the development of the Tureta-Gidan Kare road, which will make bandits’ dens more accessible.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu made the announcement during his visit to Tureta Local Government on Monday, as part of his state-wide tour of the state’s 23 local governments.
According to him, once completed, the road will allow security agents easy access to the trees that serve as hideouts for criminals in the area.
“As a government, we are committed to providing all that is necessary to make our local communities safe and free from any security challenges.
“Rest assured, we will spend our last kobo to guarantee the safety of the lives and property of our people.’
“We are deeply concerned by the heinous acts of banditry in our dear state, and we are taking further measures to end the menace, Insha Allah,” he vowed.
To reach the goal, the governor urged the people to pray a lot and lend more assistance.
