The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has issued an operational license to Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited (ERPCL) in Ologbo, Edo State. This marks the final stage of approval, enabling the refinery to commence full operations.
NMDPRA’s CEO, Ahmed Farouk, presented the license to ERPCL’s Head of Technical Operations, Segun Okeni, during a ceremony. Farouk commended the company’s achievement and encouraged them to continue their efforts.
ERPCL is finalizing a major crude supply agreement with an indigenous oil company to access crude oil for optimal production capacity. Okeni noted that the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and NMDPRA have been supportive, and with the operational license, they expect urgent approval for crude supply.
The company is developing three additional projects, with one expected to be completed within the next year. Okeni emphasized that the operational license follows a series of approvals, including License to Establish, License to Construct, and pre-commissioning and commissioning stages.
