Governor Siminialayi Fubara of Rivers State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to holding the state’s Local Government Council elections as scheduled by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RISIEC).

Speaking over the weekend at Emerengwa, Iguruta, in Ikwerre Local Government Area, where he welcomed new defectors to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Fubara emphasized that preparations for the elections are in an advanced stage. He urged party members to intensify their efforts at the unit and ward levels to ensure success.

Addressing those opposing the upcoming elections, Governor Fubara dismissed their criticisms, stating that their resistance is a sign of conceding defeat. He encouraged all residents to join the PDP, assuring them that new members would receive equal opportunities within the party.

Fubara also called on his supporters to avoid engaging in politics of verbal abuse, labeling such behavior as indicative of frustration and poor upbringing. He emphasized, “It is very simple. We stand for good governance, and that is our focus. I can assure you that there is no division in our family, come and join us.”

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to good governance and the development of Rivers State, calling for total support from all stakeholders to achieve these objectives. He urged party members to remain steadfast, supportive, and patient as his administration continues to prioritize justice and good governance.
