The former Senate Leader and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Teslim Folarin, has expressed deep sorrow and shock over the sudden demise of the state party chairman, Isaac Omodewu. Omodewu passed away in the United States of America, where he was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed ailment.
In a heartfelt statement released in Ibadan, the state capital, Folarin conveyed his profound grief over the loss of a leader who he described as a dedicated and unwavering pillar of the APC in Oyo State. “I received, with rude shock, the sad news of the death of the state chairman of our great party, APC Oyo State, Omodewu. His passing is a tremendous loss not only to the party but to the entire Oyo State political landscape,” Folarin stated.
He praised Omodewu’s tireless commitment and loyalty to the party, noting that until his last moments, he remained a diligent and dutiful leader who worked tirelessly for the betterment of the APC. “Omodewu was a wonderful family man and a friend whose loyalty to party matters was unflagging. His ability to organize and restructure the party, even in the face of daunting challenges, was truly remarkable,” Folarin added.
Folarin highlighted Omodewu’s significant contributions to the successes achieved by the Oyo APC, particularly during the last general elections. He credited Omodewu’s leadership for the party’s resilience and strategic gains, stating, “To his credit, the state APC was able to achieve the great successes recorded during the last general elections. He was equally instrumental to the resilience demonstrated by the state APC during the last Local Government Elections, where the Oyo APC presented candidates in all the 33 Local Governments for the position of Chairmen and the 351 wards as Councilors.”
The former Senate Leader emphasized that Omodewu’s leadership qualities and dedication would be sorely missed by the party and himself personally. He described Omodewu as a leader whose vision and commitment to the party’s ideals had left an indelible mark on the political landscape of Oyo State.
In his concluding remarks, Folarin offered prayers for Omodewu’s family, friends, and the entire APC community in Oyo State, asking God to grant them the strength to bear the loss. “We have lost a great leader, but his legacy will live on in the work he did and the lives he touched. May God Almighty give his immediate family, the state party family, and friends the fortitude to bear this great loss,” Folarin prayed.
