The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN) has collaborated with the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) to provide a 15% discount on logistics services for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This initiative, announced by SMEDAN’s Director-General Charles Odii, aims to reduce transportation costs and improve business conditions for SMEs in Nigeria.
The partnership, set to commence on August 26, 2024, responds to feedback from SMEs who have cited high logistics costs as a significant barrier to sales and profitability. The discount will be available to SMEs registered with SMEDAN for both online pickups and walk-in services.
NIPOST’s Postmaster-General, Tola Odeyemi, emphasized the importance of this partnership in supporting Nigeria’s MSMEs, which contribute significantly to the country’s GDP. The collaboration aims to leverage NIPOST’s extensive national presence and infrastructure to ensure efficient and affordable movement of goods across the country.
A dedicated customer support unit will be maintained by both SMEDAN and NIPOST to address any issues that arise during the logistics process. The agencies plan to monitor and evaluate the savings achieved by SMEs through this partnership, with potential future enhancements to the discount.
