Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has guaranteed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will produce the next governor of Abia State.

Kalu declared that the current governor, Alex Otti, will be the last Labour Party (LP) governor to lead the state.

This revelation was made during an interview by the Deputy Speaker, who represents Bende Federal Constituency under the APC.

He vowed that the APC would win the governorship in the 2027 elections, citing President Bola Tinubu’s hard work as the reason for his confidence.

“This is the final time a Labour governor would lead Abia state. I don’t mince words. “The next governor of Abia state will be an APC governor,” Kalu stated

Kalu, on the other hand, indicated that he is friends with the governor and has communicated his position to the Abia state top executive.

“We are friends, and we work together, but I will not be the country’s sixth citizen, and another party will control my state. APC will participate in the next election in 2027.

“I’ve informed him, both publicly and personally, that the APC governor will be next in Abia state. I’m not sure how it’ll happen, but it will.

“I am confident because my government and president are working hard, and Abia will repay Tinubu. Tinubu has assured you that the South East Development Commission will be compensated.

“Tinubu is appointing Abians as administrators. Tinubu is attracting the dividends of democracy, which will be returned. We are not ungrateful individuals. Monkeys do not work, and baboons chop. The APC would not help the state to be strong, while Labour will claim credit.

“The APC will choose the next governor of Abia state. I don’t care who they are. But one thing is certain: the APC platform will name the next governor of Abia State.

“We are willing to work for Abia State, and we are tired of being outside of the central government. We need to use the center’s strength to accelerate Abia state’s growth.”
