Former Big Brother Naija contestant Alex Unusual has shared her heartbreaking story of abuse and bullying on the Unpack podcast. Alex revealed how she was mistreated by family members and schoolmates, leaving emotional scars.
During her secondary school years, Alex was labeled a thief and perceived as stubborn. She recounted an incident where she was flogged by her aunt for giving clean water to pigs instead of dirty water. This led to accusations of trying to harm the pigs.
Alex explained how her family members would punish her overnight, making her the last to leave the hostel. When items went missing, she was blamed, and her locker was searched. One day, provisions belonging to a senior were found in her locker, leading to a severe beating.
Alex denied the accusations, and her mother was called. A friend even suggested she had a stealing problem and needed church prayers.
