Pep Guardiola has revealed that Jack Grealish might miss Manchester City’s first Premier League game against Chelsea due to an injury. Grealish sustained a knock during training before the Community Shield match against Manchester United and was left out as a precaution.
There are concerns that Grealish’s minor problem might worsen if he plays against Chelsea on Sunday. Guardiola stated, “He felt discomfort for two days, and especially on Friday, he wasn’t feeling good. I don’t think it’s a major issue, but we didn’t want to take a risk. If he had gotten injured now, it could have led to three weeks or a month out.”
In Grealish’s absence, Belgian star Jeremy Doku and new £33 million signing, Savinho, are potential candidates for the left-wing position. Guardiola also praised Savinho’s performance during his debut at Wembley.
Guardiola said, “Savinho will understand us perfectly. I have seen many, many actions from his time at Girona last season, where he would go to the byline, cross to the near post or far post, and the strikers scored a lot of goals. He’s so fast in transition.”
