As the nationwide protests against poor governance continue to unfold across Nigeria, prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Adamu Garba has voiced strong criticism regarding the involvement of northern influencers. On Friday, Garba claimed that these influencers have been manipulated into contributing to the current wave of vandalism, thereby jeopardizing their own region’s resources.

Garba, in a post on X, stated, “The North is played into this protest of vandalism. Those northern influencers pushing for this protest should by now, realize that they have been used to destroy their commonwealth.” His comments reflect growing concern over the impact of the protests on regional stability and economic assets.

The nationwide protests, which began on August 1 and are scheduled to continue until August 10, 2024, have seen demonstrators across various states voicing their frustration over widespread hunger, inflation, and governance issues. Organizers of the protests have highlighted severe economic hardships and the deterioration of living conditions as key factors driving the unrest.

Garba’s statement comes amid increasing tensions as the protests have seen varying degrees of violence and property damage. The involvement of northern influencers in the protests has become a contentious issue, with critics arguing that their participation may be exacerbating regional conflicts and undermining efforts to address the core grievances raised by the demonstrators.

The protest movement has drawn significant attention to the economic struggles faced by many Nigerians, including high inflation rates and severe food shortages. As the protests continue, there are growing calls for a peaceful resolution and for leaders to address the underlying issues that have fueled the public outcry.
