There is serious pandemonium at Nyanya checkpoint bus stop, Abuja as a heated crisis erupted between violent protesters and the Nigerian police.

What initially seemed to be a peaceful protest by Nigerians venting their grievances against the hardships of the Tinubu-led government took a violent turn when police officers tear-gassed and shot one of the protesters.

The situation escalated as protesters burned down the police post, looted shops, dispossessed commuters of their belongings, and set tires on fire on the highway.

In a display of solidarity, motorcyclists, commonly known as ‘Okada men,’ were seen carrying palm fronds around.
