Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State faced significant backlash from EndBadGovernance protesters at the Port Harcourt Government House on Thursday after offering money for pure water and asking the demonstrators to go home.

In his address to the protesters, Governor Fubara thanked them for their peaceful conduct and acknowledged their grievances. He assured them that he would relay their message to the President and promised efforts to improve living conditions in Rivers State. However, his offer of money for pure water sparked outrage among the protesters, who rejected it, demanding good governance instead.

The protesters responded with a resounding “No,” insisting that they did not need the governor’s money but rather desired effective governance and accountability. Despite the governor’s attempts to pacify the crowd, his words were met with continued dissatisfaction.

Governor Fubara eventually waved to the crowd and left the scene, as the protesters remained firm in their demands for substantial change in governance.
