In Anambra State, the #EndBadGovernance protest that has spread across Nigeria saw minimal participation, with economic activities largely resuming in major cities like Onitsha, Nnewi, and Awka. Initially, there was a noticeable decline in activity as residents stayed indoors, and many shops and offices remained closed. However, as the day progressed, businesses began to reopen, and normal activities resumed in markets and on major roads.

Heavy security presence was reported around key locations, including markets, government facilities, and banks, which likely contributed to the peaceful atmosphere. Despite the early apprehension, no protests or public gatherings were recorded, and the situation remained calm throughout the state.

The United Igbo Elders Council Worldwide expressed satisfaction with the peaceful response in the Southeast, attributing it to the Igbo population’s understanding of the broader Nigerian context and their cautious approach to protests, particularly in light of past experiences of regional oppression.

In summary, while the rest of the country saw significant participation in the protests, Anambra State remained largely peaceful, with residents focusing on their daily activities rather than joining the nationwide movement.
