Hardship Protests: Military Mount Checkpoints in Abuja

Motorists and other road users heading into the Abuja City Centre in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are facing significant delays, with traffic congestion now stretching for several minutes to hours. The primary cause of these extensive delays is the series of military checkpoints set up on key arterial roads.
The roadblocks, established by the Nigerian Army and other security personnel, are part of heightened security measures in anticipation of the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests. These protests, which are expected to be large-scale, have led to a substantial increase in security presence across the city.
Reports indicate that the congestion has become a severe inconvenience for daily commuters, with many being stranded in long queues as they navigate through the heavily monitored areas. The checkpoints, designed to prevent any potential disruptions and maintain public order, have inadvertently caused a significant bottleneck in traffic flow.
