The Forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) state chairmen has announced plans to conduct solidarity rallies in response to the planned August 1 protest against economic hardship. These rallies will take place across all political wards, local governments, state capitals, and Abuja.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the forum’s Secretary, Alphonsus Eba, stated that the planned counter-rallies aim to highlight the positive projects and programs of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Eba emphasized that any violent protest, as suggested by the organizers of the August 1 protest, would undermine democratic principles.

Eba noted that while current economic conditions are challenging, the policies and initiatives of President Tinubu promise a better future. He stressed the importance of maintaining peace and order during this period.

“From today, July 29, to August 11, 2024, we will hold peaceful rallies across all political wards, LGAs, and state capitals, including Abuja,” Eba said. “These rallies will demonstrate support for President Tinubu’s projects and programs, and defend our democracy against any violent protest attempts by certain groups.”

The forum urged all patriotic Nigerians to resist any efforts to incite disorganized protests that could jeopardize the nation’s peace.
