Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who chairs the Progressives Governors’ Forum, has formally introduced former Senate President Pius Anyim to President Bola Tinubu. This meeting, held at the State House, marks a significant moment following Anyim’s recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Anyim, who previously served as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) under ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, switched allegiances to the APC last week. His defection comes amid a period of heightened political activity and strategic realignments in Nigerian politics.

Addressing State House reporters after the meeting, Governor Uzodimma praised the current administration for its ongoing support of the South East region. He expressed the gratitude of the South East Governors Forum for President Tinubu’s efforts and highlighted recent political shifts in the region, noting that an entire local government area had recently aligned with the APC due to the administration’s performance.

“This is a new dawn for Nigeria, and many have acknowledged that President Tinubu’s administration is making significant strides,” Uzodimma stated. “My determination is to see Nigeria move forward. It is essential that we all come together to advance our nation.”

Pius Anyim echoed this sentiment, emphasizing his commitment to the progress of the country. He stressed the importance of collective effort in advancing Nigeria’s development. Anyim, along with his supporters, defected to the APC during the grand finale of the APC campaign for the Local Government Area elections in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
