Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, the suspended Abia State Commissioner for Health, has resigned from Governor Alex Otti’s cabinet.
Governor Otti had suspended Okoronkwo on June 11, 2024, over allegations of financial misconduct and subsequently set up a committee to investigate the claims against her.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ukoha Njoku, released a statement confirming the governor’s acceptance of her resignation and expressing gratitude for her contributions.
“The suspended Abia State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, has tendered her resignation letter to the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR. The Governor, while accepting her resignation, thanked Dr. Okoronkwo for her services to our dear State and her modest achievements in repositioning the Health Sector for better service delivery in the last year. He wished her well in her future endeavors.”
Governor Otti reiterated his commitment to transforming Abia State and reminded citizens that his mandate includes the authority to hire, suspend, or dismiss appointees to ensure the fulfillment of his promises to the people.
