The Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Maikalangu, has issued a stern warning against the activities of unauthorized individuals posing as revenue agents within the Federal Capital City. At a press briefing held at the council’s secretariat on Tuesday, Maikalangu underscored his administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards these fraudulent operators, who pose significant security risks and cause disruptions.

Maikalangu asserted that only legitimate AMAC officials are authorized to handle revenue collection, specifically in designated areas such as the University of Abuja permanent site, Nyanya on the Abuja-Keffi expressway, and Dei-Dei on the Kubwa expressway. He made it clear that any revenue technical partners sending out officials to intimidate or deceive unsuspecting motorists and visitors under the guise of vehicle particulars and tax collection will face immediate disapproval.

“We will not hesitate to disapprove any revenue technical partner that sends out officials to embarrass or harass unsuspecting car owners and visitors in the name of vehicle particulars and tax collection,” Maikalangu warned firmly.

The chairman highlighted the growing problem of unapproved individuals taking over key streets and locations, creating a nuisance and harassing drivers and visitors by pretending to be official AMAC agents. To combat this issue, he has urged the public to report any suspicious individuals engaging in such activities to the nearest police station or the council’s secretariat.

Maikalangu also disclosed that he has communicated with the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory Command, as well as other relevant security agencies, to address the harassment of visitors and motorists, particularly foreigners. His administration aims to ensure that legitimate AMAC revenue agents operate strictly outside the city center, maintaining their presence only in designated areas such as Nyanya, the University of Abuja, and along the Kubwa expressway.
