Ife Awards Over N3m in Scholarships, Prizes at Inaugural Quiz Competition

Over the weekend, a total of forty students from government schools in Ife North Local Government Area were honored with scholarships and cash prizes ranging from N50,000 to N100,000 at the inaugural quiz competition and scholarship award ceremony. The event, organized by Dr. Gbenga A. Owolabi, marked the first such initiative by the council and was held at Asipa Community High School in Asipa.

The competition saw 46 pupils from a pool of 54 students across ten of the local government’s fifteen schools vie for top honors. Of these, forty students were awarded prizes in various categories.

Participating schools included Origbo Anglican Grammar School, Moro; Asipa Community High School, Asipa; LA Grammar School, Ipetumodu; Akinlalu Secondary Commercial College, Akinlalu; CAC Commercial Grammar School, Ipetumodu; The Apostolic Grammar School, Ipetumodu; C & S Grammar School, Ipetumodu; Anglican High School, Edunabon; CAC Grammar School, Edunabon; Community High School, Amukegun; Community High School, Oyere-Apamu; Community High School, Okuu Omoni; United High School, Oyere Aborisade; and Yakoyo High School, Yakoyo.

The awards were distributed across three categories: best students, best schools, and top performers from each participating high school.

In the school category, Origbo Community High (Unity) School, Ipetumodu, emerged as the best school, receiving N100,000 in cash. Yakoyo High School, Yakoyo, was awarded N75,000, and Origbo Anglican Grammar School, Moro, received N50,000.

For individual student awards, Ayoola Racheal of Origbo Community High (Unity) School, Ipetumodu, won the top student award, earning N100,000. Olabiyi Favour, also from Origbo Community High (Unity) School, Ipetumodu, secured the second-place student award with N75,000. Imran Hamed of Origbo Anglican Grammar School, Moro, and Olubunmi Jumoke of Yakoyo High School, Yakoyo, tied for third place, each receiving N50,000.

Additionally, prizes were awarded to the top three students from each participating school, with over 35 pupils receiving amounts of N30,000, N20,000, and N10,000, respectively.
