The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) branch, has suspended the five-day warning strike embarked on over the non-payment of salaries owed some members.
Ashiru Mikail, NARD’s vice-president said on Tuesday in Zaria that the strike was suspended on Monday evening.

He said the resident doctors had resumed work at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

He said that the strike was suspended following a marathon meeting between the association and the management of ABUTH.

According to him, “There was a serious commitment from the part of the management to address the demands of the association; the management had pledged to stop percentage salary payments to our members.

“The meeting had also charted robust initiatives to curtail further industrial disharmony between the association and ABUTH management”.

The association had embarked on a five-day warning strike on July 22 to protest percentage salary payments for members on the GIFMIS platform non-payment of accoutrement allowance, among others.
