There was panic on Friday in Lagos State when an unidentified woman was found dead in a tricycle while in transit at the Isheri-Idimu area. The incident caused significant alarm among residents and passersby.

The woman had boarded the tricycle along the Isheri-Igando Road and was heading towards the Isheri end of the area. Upon reaching her destination, the tricycle rider attempted to inform her of their arrival. However, to his shock, she did not respond and appeared motionless.

An eyewitness, who chose to remain anonymous due to the sensitive nature of the incident, recounted the moment to our correspondent. “I was close to the Isheri bus stop when I heard the tricycle rider shouting for help. When we approached, we saw a woman leaning her head on the middle barricade of the tricycle, unresponsive,” the witness said.

The rider, having reached the final stop at Isheri, expected the woman to disembark and pay her fare. When she failed to respond, he raised an alarm, drawing the attention of nearby pedestrians and vendors. Crowds quickly gathered, realizing the passenger was no longer breathing.

Another witness, Sodiq, described the futile attempts made by local residents to revive the woman. “People tried their best to see if they could revive her but could not. It wasn’t long before the police arrived, prompting people to disperse to avoid any complications,” he said.

Speculation arose among the onlookers regarding the cause of death. Some suggested she might have been suffering from an ailment or could have died from a heart attack. Despite these theories, the exact cause of death remains undetermined.

The scene attracted a considerable crowd, as the unusual nature of the incident drew curiosity and concern. “The place was crowded as it appeared strange,” the initial eyewitness added, describing the commotion and shock among those present.

Following the incident, the tricycle was taken to the Idimu police station for further investigation. The woman’s body was transported to an undisclosed hospital in the area, pending identification and an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
