Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North, has urged Nigerians to exercise patience with the policies of President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing that many of these initiatives will take time to bear fruit. In a recent interview with newsmen, Oshiomhole highlighted that some of Tinubu’s policy measures will require more than a year to fully materialize and show their effects.
Oshiomhole stated, “You have to agree that some of the policy initiatives will require more than a year to materialize. What would the president gain by resorting to policy choices that are unlikely to deliver comfort in the long run? So, I think for me, it is about having faith that in the long run, these things will work out.”
This call for patience comes in the wake of a report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), which revealed that Nigeria’s inflation rate surged to 34.19% in June 2024. The inflation spike has been attributed to the devaluation of the naira and the removal of fuel subsidies, which have contributed to an increased cost of living across the country.
Despite the current economic difficulties, including a downturn in the economy and rising living costs, Senator Oshiomhole remains optimistic about President Tinubu’s policies. He believes that although the short-term impact may be challenging, the long-term benefits of these policies will ultimately prove beneficial for Nigeria.
