MTN, Flutterwave, Piggyvest, and Kuda are among the only seven African companies recognized in the top 250 fintech companies in the world by CNBC. The report, in partnership with market research firm Statista, also features global companies such as Mastercard, Robinhood, AliPay, Klarna, and Flywire. These companies were acknowledged for their achievements in fostering growth and driving financial inclusion.

Flutterwave, Africa’s leading payments technology company, was recognized under the payments category for providing robust payment infrastructure to global merchants and facilitating seamless transactions across Africa. Additionally, Flutterwave was noted for its commitment to enabling other African fintechs to enter the market swiftly.

Piggyvest’s inclusion on the list is based on its innovative platform that helps individuals save and invest more effectively. By automating savings and investments, Piggyvest makes financial management accessible and straightforward.

This year’s list identified fintech companies across eight key categories, with the selection based on the analysis and weighting of overarching general Key Performance Indicators and segment-specific Key Performance Indicators focused on the individual categories.

Together with other African companies such as Yoco from South Africa, Kuda, and Palmpay from Nigeria, these companies represent the diverse nature of fintechs in Africa. Each contributes uniquely to driving financial inclusion on the continent by making payments easier, faster, and safer.

This recognition from CNBC and Statista celebrates the remarkable achievements of these companies and their dedication to transforming the financial services ecosystem. Flutterwave, Piggyvest, MTN South Africa, Tala, and the other African brands are not only elevating Africa’s fintech industry but also setting new standards on the global stage.
