Tinubu’s Alleged Anointed Candidate Afam Osigwe Wins NBA Election

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria and former general secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Afam Osigwe, has emerged as the president-elect in the highly anticipated 2024 NBA election. This victory is notable as Osigwe was widely regarded as the favored candidate of President Bola Tinubu.

The 2024 NBA election, conducted entirely online, saw active participation and was meticulously monitored by our correspondent. Voting commenced at 12 am on Saturday and concluded at 11:59 pm, with live results for all positions presented on the NBA’s official election portal.

By the final compilation at 12:40 am on Sunday, Osigwe had secured a commanding lead with 20,435 votes. His closest rival, Tobenna Erojikwe, Chairman of the NBA-Institute of Continuing Legal Education Governing Council, garnered 10,998 votes. Chukwuka Ikwuazom (SAN), former NBA Lagos Branch Chairman, finished third with 9,018 votes.

Osigwe is set to succeed the outgoing president, Yakubu Maikyau (SAN), and is expected to bring a new wave of leadership to the NBA. His victory is seen as a significant win for his supporters and a testament to his popularity within the association.

Other key positions in the NBA elections also witnessed keen competition. Sabastine Anyia emerged as the 1st Vice-President with 12,114 votes, defeating Bartholomew Aguegbodo, who garnered 6,864 votes. Mrs. Bolatumi Animashaun clinched the 2nd Vice-President position with a remarkable 26,534 votes, overshadowing Pius Oiwoh, who received 11,121 votes.

The 3rd Vice-President position was won by Mrs. Zainab Garba, who secured 23,550 votes, while her closest contender, Michael Olorunmola, got 13,897 votes. In the race for General Secretary, Dr. Mobolaji Ojibara emerged victorious with 25,713 votes, outpacing Abdulwasiu Alfa, who collected 11,730 votes.
