The President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has urged the House of Representatives to launch an investigation into the quality of diesel and petrol being sold at filling stations across the country.
Dangote made this call on Saturday during a meeting with the leadership of the House, which included Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu. During the meeting, Dangote expressed his concerns about the potential impact of substandard fuel on vehicles, machinery, and the environment.
Speaking on the newly built refinery, he said there was no government incentive for its construction. Dangote said “We did not collect one single incentive from the Federal Government of Nigeria or from even the Lagos State Government.”
For the land, he acknowledged that the Lagos State Government gave a “good deal” but paid $100 million for land purchase.
He informed the lawmakers, who had earlier toured the refinery, that he was also open to independent testing of his refinery’s products as that would only attest to their quality while exposing the problem with some of the products being sold by other players in the sector.

The management of Dangote Refinery has complained in recent months about what they say is an attempt by international oil companies (IOCs) to sabotage the refinery. It has also decried what it says is the importation of substandard products.
In turn, the refinery has been accused of essentially pushing for a monopoly.
Dangote, however, dismissed the monopoly claims insisting that the Dangote Group did not receive any special incentive when the refinery was being built.
