APC Guber Candidate Condemns Brutal Attack, Seeks Justice for Slain Policeman in Edo

In the wake of a brutal attack on the convoy of Senator Monday Okpebholo by members of the Edo State Security Network and state-sponsored thugs at the exit gate of the Benin Airport on Thursday, Senator Okpebholo has expressed profound sadness and extended condolences to the family of the slain policeman, Inspector Akor Onu.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his Legislative Aide on Media & Communication, Godswill Inegbe, Senator Okpebholo conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family. He also empathized with the injured members of his convoy who are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals across Benin City.

On Friday morning, in a follow-up condolence message through his Media Aide, Senator Okpebholo demanded justice for Inspector Akor Onu, emphasizing his commitment to ensuring that the perpetrators of the unprovoked and brutal attack are brought to justice.

“I am deeply saddened and heartbroken by the tragic killing of Inspector Akor Onu. He was an exemplary policeman and one of the finest in the Nigeria Police Force. Inspector Onu was unwaveringly dedicated to his duties, and due to his exceptional commitment and effective policing, we became close friends for over 12 years,” Senator Okpebholo stated.

The Senator assured Inspector Onu’s family that the brutal killing of their breadwinner would not be overlooked or forgotten. He vowed to pursue justice relentlessly to honor the memory of the slain officer.

In addition to his call for justice, Senator Okpebholo prayed for the repose of Inspector Onu’s soul and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the attack. He highlighted the need for increased security measures to protect public officials and their aides, calling on relevant authorities to take immediate action to prevent such incidents in the future.

The attack on Senator Okpebholo’s convoy has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation, raising concerns about the escalating violence and the need for improved security protocols in the region.
