Nigerian afrobeats star Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first African artist to surpass two billion streams in the United Kingdom. This remarkable achievement was recognized with a Brit plaque presented to him during his sold-out show at Koko Camden in London on Monday night.
This accolade comes just weeks after Burna Boy received a Brit plaque for reaching one billion streams at his sold-out show at the London Stadium last month.
Upon receiving his Brit 2 billion streams plaque, Burna Boy expressed his gratitude and emphasized the effort it took to achieve this milestone. He stated, “Thank you very much. I appreciate you. Ehen, now that’s it. You’ve to fight for your right.” When one of the presenters suggested he already had the right, Burna Boy responded, “No. You know, we have to fight for our rights.”
This achievement marks a significant moment for African music on the global stage, showcasing Burna Boy’s influence and popularity.
