Governor Seyi Makinde has criticised the supreme Court’s judgement on Local Government Autonomy,calling it a distraction from the more pressing issues facing the nation.
He stated that the “Supreme Courts ruling on Local Government is a side show ,the real issue is our lack of productivity. We need to focus on increasing out output ,not just debating autonomy ”
Some days back a seven-member panel of the Supreme Court ruled that the 774 local government councils in Nigeria have the constitutional right to manage their finances autonomously without interference from state governments.
