Negotiations over the minimum wage between the Organised Labour and President Bola Tinubu have once again ended without a conclusive agreement. The meeting, called at the President’s instance, concluded with no significant resolutions.
Labour leaders, speaking to reporters after the meeting, indicated that consultations with the Presidency would continue next week. They explained that they need to communicate the details of their discussions with the President to their respective unions.
Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), stated that the proposed minimum wage positions of ₦250,000 for Labour and ₦62,000 for the Federal Government remain unchanged.
Nigerians, particularly the nation’s workforce, have been eagerly awaiting a new minimum wage from the government, but the latest round of talks has yet to yield a definitive outcome.
