Maureen Achebe, daughter of the late acclaimed novelist Chinua Achebe, has been honored with the prestigious 2024 Faculty Development and Diversity Award at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. The award was presented by Brigham and Women’s Hospital, recognizing her outstanding contributions and leadership in healthcare.
Chidi Achebe, Maureen’s brother and chairman of the African Integrated Development Enterprise Public Benefit Corporation, announced the accolade in a LinkedIn post on July 2. According to the post, Maureen received notification of the award in a letter dated July 2, 2024, from Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
The award celebrates Maureen Achebe’s remarkable achievements as President of AIDE Healthcare International and her roles as Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School. She serves as Director of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Outpatient Infusion Center and Clinical Director of the Non-Malignant Hematology Clinic. Additionally, she directs the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Sickle Cell Program and holds the position of Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Maureen is triple-board certified in Medical Oncology, Hematology, and Internal Medicine, and is an alumna of the University of Port Harcourt Medical School and the M.T. Chan Harvard School of Public Health.
