Favour, a female student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), was discovered dead days after she went missing. Favour, a 100-level student in the Medical Laboratory Science department, vanished on Tuesday, July 2, following her chemistry practical session.

The search for Favour ended tragically on the night of Friday, July 5, when her body was found near the university’s stadium intersection, close to the Eni-Njoku male hostel. Her body was discovered in a drainage network by students returning from evening sessions.

The discovery of Favour’s body has sent shockwaves through the university community. The scene was captured on video by some students, who initially expressed doubts about the identity of the deceased. One student, speaking in pidgin English, was heard saying, “Na woman now. See, she get br**st. Na woman.”

The following morning, the university’s security staff arrived at the scene and transported Favour’s body to the UNN morgue. As of now, the university administration has not issued an official statement regarding the incident.

Efforts to obtain more information from the state’s police spokesperson, Daniel Ekea, have been unfruitful. Ekea requested a text message but has yet to respond to inquiries about the circumstances surrounding Favour’s death, as reported by TheCable.

The tragic incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of students on campus. Fellow students and members of the university community are demanding answers and calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to Favour’s untimely death.

The discovery of Favour’s body has also prompted a wave of grief and solidarity among the student body. Vigils and memorials are being organized to honor her memory and to provide support to her family and friends during this difficult time.

In the wake of this tragedy, there are growing calls for the university administration to take immediate steps to enhance campus security and ensure the safety of all students. This includes increasing the presence of security personnel, improving lighting in poorly lit areas, and implementing measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

Additionally, the university community is urging the police and other relevant authorities to conduct a swift and comprehensive investigation to uncover the truth behind Favour’s death. It is crucial to determine whether foul play was involved and to hold any responsible parties accountable.

As the investigation continues, the thoughts and prayers of the entire UNN community are with Favour’s family. The loss of a young life under such tragic circumstances is a stark reminder of the need for vigilance and proactive measures to protect students and ensure their well-being on campus.
