YouTube Music is testing a new feature that creates AI-generated radio stations based on user prompts. As generative AI continues to integrate into various technologies, YouTube Music’s latest experiment aims to provide a personalised radio experience.

When the feature becomes available on your device, you’ll see an option in your Home feed called “Ask for music any way you like,” alongside the existing “Start radio” button. Tapping it opens a chat-based interface where you can type or speak a prompt, and the AI will create a custom radio station for you. This interface appears in full screen with an “Experiment” badge in the corner.

You can either type your prompt or enter it via voice, with suggested prompts available to guide you. Once you select a prompt, YouTube Music generates a radio station, naming it after your prompt and providing a description of the station’s theme.

Currently, the feature is in a limited testing phase, meaning only a few users can access it. It’s a promising tool for curating music that matches your mood or preferences, and there’s hope for a wider release in the near future so more users can enjoy this convenient way to discover music.
