In a tragic incident early Wednesday morning, 28-year-old Ufuoma Umurie brutally murdered his father, Rev. Isaac Umurie, a priest at St. John’s Anglican Church in Okpare-Olomu Community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to reports, the attack occurred around 2 a.m., with Ufuoma using a cutlass to mutilate his father’s skull and other body parts. Following the killing, he also attempted to attack his mother, who managed to escape.
The community has been left in a state of shock and tension following the gruesome event. The motive behind Ufuoma’s actions remains unclear.
The suspect has been arrested and is currently in police custody at the Otu-Jeremi Division. Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and stated that Ufuoma will be prosecuted according to Nigerian law.
