Staff members of the Taraba State College of Agriculture, Science, and Technology have appealed to Governor Agbu Kefas to address their unpaid salaries. Employed in 2022, the staff claim they have not received any remuneration since their employment nearly two years ago.
Expressing their frustration and depression over the situation, the staff, who wished to remain anonymous, highlighted the negative impact of the non-payment on their families. They emphasized that they are not protesting but seeking the governor’s intervention.
One staff member stated, “We want to let our father, Governor Agbu Kefas, know that since 2022, when we were employed, we have not received any salary. We are appealing to Kefas, as a father and a man of God, to please commence our payment to ease our suffering.”
Another staff member blamed the previous administration for their predicament and urged the current governor to intervene. They expressed confidence that Governor Kefas, known for his passion for education and commitment to developing Taraba’s education sector, would address the issue once he is aware of it.
They added, “Many of us have family members who depend solely on us. Working for close to two years without a salary, combined with the current hardship in Nigeria, is overwhelming. We want the governor to come to our rescue.”
When contacted for comments, the state’s Head of Civil Service, Tino Paul Maigida, confirmed that the government is aware of the situation and that efforts to address it are underway. “The Governor has asked me to see him with their memo as soon as he comes back from his journey,” Maigida said.
