The Lagos State Government has discovered an unlawful styrofoam warehouse at Ojuwoye Market in Mushin as part of a decisive effort to enforce environmental restrictions. Operatives from the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) made the finding early this morning based on intelligence acquired.
The Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the successful raid in a social media post. He revealed that the warehouse owner had covertly transported the banned styrofoam products into the market under the cover of darkness.
“Based on intelligence gathering, the operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) discovered a styrofoam warehouse at Ojuwoye Market in Mushin. The owner brought in the banned styrofoam to market in the early hours of today,” Wahab stated.
Following the confiscation, the styrofoam products were swiftly transported to the KAI office in Oshodi for incineration, ensuring they pose no further environmental threat. “The Lagos state government is reiterating its commitment to ensuring a healthy, cleaner, and safer environment for all Lagosians,” Wahab added.
