Mohammed Isah has been apprehended by the Niger State Police Command for fatally stabbing Nurudeen Nuhu in the Abattoir area of Kwata Tayi village, outskirts of Minna, the state capital. The incident, which occurred last Saturday, stemmed from a heated argument over a phone.
According to reports, Nurudeen, a resident of Anguwan-Daji area, was stabbed during a scuffle with Mohammed Isah from Anguwan-Biri. Witnesses described how Mohammed allegedly thrust a knife into Nurudeen’s abdomen, resulting in his immediate collapse.
Despite efforts to save him, Nurudeen succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the hospital.
Confirming the incident, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Niger State Police Command, stated that the GRA Division received a report of the altercation on 29/06/2024 at approximately 10 AM. “Mohammed Isah and Nurudeen Nuhu engaged in a fight at the Abattoir area of Kwata Tayi village over a phone issue. During the altercation, Mohammed Isah allegedly stabbed Nurudeen with a knife,” Abiodun reported.
Police personnel swiftly responded to the scene, where they rushed Nurudeen to the General Hospital. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Mohammed Isah was subsequently arrested, and preliminary investigations are underway. “He will soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution,” Abiodun added.
Following the tragic incident, police patrol teams have been deployed to maintain peace and security in the area. Abiodun reassured the public that normalcy has been restored, with ongoing monitoring to prevent any escalation of tensions.
